Followings are few truths from Mahabharata which one can read in Kisari Mohan Ganguly’s Mahabharata (translated from Ved Vyas Sanskrit book):-
Karna was a student in Drona’s school along with other royal princes. He was not discriminated for his caste. He wanted Brahmastra from Drona to fight Arjun. Drona reasoned that he could not get it because he was neither Brahmin nor Kshatriya. This made Karna leave for Parasurama to acquire Brahmastra and not EDUCATION per se.
Parasurama vowed to teach brahmins only and no Kshatriya but he taught Bhishma.
Parasurama cursed Karna for forgetting Brahmasatra because brahma weapon would not dwell in a non-brahmin and non-kshatriya and not his entire warfare education as usually perceived.
As per MB, it was not Duryodhan but Karna who ordered Duhshahsan to disrob Pandavas and Draupadi of their royal attires. Pandavas obliged themselves but Draupadi refused before getting answered whether she was a legitimate stake after Yudhishthira had lost himself in the dice game. It seems taking off royal attire was a symbol of designating Pandavas as slaves. Since Draupadi, a lady, refused she was forced to do so and the episode assumed different level altogether.
Arjun, during his exile of 12 years, contradictorily lived luxurious life, marrying Chitrangda and Uloopi and doing lavish charity of gems and valuables.
There was another elderly person in Kuru family apart from Bhishma. He was Vahlika, of Bhishma’s age. He fought from the Kauravas side.
Arjun and three Pandavas together won whole India during Yudhishthira’s Rajsuya yaga. Karna defeated whole India alone which allowed Duryodhan perform Vaishnava yaga to be coronated as Emperor of India. Duryodhan was only second person to perform this yaga which was first performed by Lord Vishnu himself.
