Play your PSP games in HD!
PPSSPP can run your PSP games on your PC in full HD resolution, and play them on Android too. It can even upscale textures that would otherwise be too blurry as they were made for the small screen of the original PSP. Even on modern Android phones and tablets, you can often run at double the original resolution.
Enhance your experience!
Play in HD resolutions and more. Play on a tablet for big-screen mobile gaming.
Customize on-screen touch controls or use an external controller or keyboard.
Save and restore game state anywhere, anytime.
Crank up the anisotropic filtering and texture scaling.
Continue where you left off by transferring saves from your real PSP.
Free & Open Source
PPSSPP is an open source project, licensed under the GPL 2.0 (or later). Anyone is welcome to contribute improvements to the code. Partly thanks to such contributions, PPSSPP’s compatibility is steadily increasing, letting us all play our PSP games on the devices of our choice.
Where can I get games for PPSSPP?
You need to convert your PSP games into ISO files or CSO files. To legally turn your own PSP games into .ISO files, you need to install “Custom Firmware” on your PSP. Google for that. Then follow these steps:
Insert the UMD into your PSP.
Connect your PSP to your PC with a USB cable.
At the PSP menu, press Select. In the menu that pops up (only on Custom Firmware), choose to UMD as USB Device.
Still in the PSP menu, choose USB Connection in the Settings menu (to the left).
On your PC, a folder will pop up, containing a virtual ISO file. To copy the game to your PC, simply drag this to somewhere on your harddrive and the copy will start. Done!
There are also tools to turn ISO files into CSO (compressed ISO) files to save space.
If you have digital downloads on your PSP, they can be used directly on PPSSPP. Just copy the EBOOT.PBP over. Note that this has not been tested as much as ISO loading so there may still be issues with some games.
How do I install game DLC?
Install it exactly the same way as you would on a PSP, that is, copy the files to PSP/GAME or PSP/SAVEDATA (depending on the DLC) on the memory stick. In the Android version of PPSSPP, the memory stick is simply the SD card or USB storage of your phone, PPSSPP will create a PSP folder in the root of that. On Windows without installer, the memory stick is the “memstick” subdirectory in the PPSSPP folder. On iOS, it’s in /User/Documents/PSP/ . On Mac and Linux, it’s in ~/.config/PPSSPP.
Will PPSSPP be able to emulate the PSP Vita in the future?
PSP Vita is a completely different platform and it’s still fairly secure, meaning that there’s no way to decrypt games, making any emulation attempt impossible unless this changes. Also, it’s far more powerful so emulating it at full speed on an Android phone is years off anyway.

PlayStation Portable Simulator Suitable for Playing Portably abbreviated as PPSSPP is an open-source PSP emulator which is available on all platforms including Windows, Linux, macOS, Android, iOS, Blackberry OS and even Symbian OS. It allows users to sideload and play PSP games on any device running on the above-mentioned platforms. PPSSPP has been available for Windows 10 Mobile for some time now but its dynamic recompiler for Windows 10 Mobile didn’t work. This was because some functions which were required by the dynamic recompiler went missing on Universal Windows Platform for ARM processors probably due to a bug.
The developer has now provided with a fix to the emulator’s dynarec (dynamic recompiler). Dynamic recompilation is a technique that emulators use to make the CPU emulation much faster. Don’t let the name fool you as nothing is being recompiled here, it is only being translated.
Even as the dynarec for PPSSPP has been fixed for Windows 10 Mobile, don’t expect a super smooth experience as there are still a few bugs and we cannot expect to see more bug fixes anytime soon. Nonetheless, this is the most stable version that Windows 10 Mobile has seen.
PPSSPP is not available in the Microsoft Store as Microsoft has banned game emulators from the Microsoft Store. Apple has also banned game emulator apps from the App Store. As of now, Android is the only mobile platform that still supports game emulators.
How to install PPSSPP?
Since PPSSPP is not available in the Microsoft Store, the only option is to sideload the app. To do this, open Settings, open Update and Security, Select For Developers, enable Developer Mode.
Then, scroll down and go to Device Portal and Turn on remote diagnostics. Then you can enable Authentication to get the IP based URL to access the system.
Open the URL from the browser on your PC. To get the password, turn on Device Discovery and use the password which will be shown. Turn on Remember This PC option.
Download PPSSPP on your PC from here
- Go to apps section.
- Upload the PPSSPP using the uploader and then click on Deploy.
- The app will be installed on your phone.
- To run the app, click on start after selecting PPSSPP from the drop-down menu.
Keep in mind that this version of PPSSPP is a preview version so there will be bugs.
